Home: About Me

Goodhand Acoustics is an environmental consultancy firm that has delivered environmental modelling, assessments, and monitoring services since 2012. Goodhand Acoustics has provided expert advice on projects across a wide range of disciplines from major UK infrastructure projects to industrial developments to residential developments. We provide a personal service with first class technical advice helping clients over the lifespan of project. We have helped many clients navigate through challenging situations to find the win-win outcomes.

We believe in giving back to the community as well as helping improve the industries we work in. Our employees spend part of their time to volunteering in the local community as well as being encouraged to sit on committees responsible for shaping our industry. Goodhand Acoustics is a member of the Association of Noise Consultants and our consultants are members of the Institute of Acoustics.

We can assist with either new build, extensions or to improve the acoustic environment. This may be at the outset of the project to achieve good acoustics or we can assist in remedial work if an already built space suffers from poor acoustics or is affected by noise.

We can provide you with all the technical support to produce Section 61s, Noise and Vibration Management Plans, Air Quality Management Plans and fulfil all the environmental monitoring requirements.

Sound insulation testing to meet the requirements of Approved Document E for housing, BB93 for schools, HTM 08-01 for hospitals, the Court Service Design Guide or BS 8233.

Acoustic Modelling

Rail, road or aircraft - we offer comprehensive noise modelling services and produce environmental impact assessments for infrastructure projects. This might include screening/scoping assessments, Environmental Statement chapters, Land Compensation Act assessments and Noise Insulation Regulations assessments.

Protecting the Local Community

We can provide support to get a licence, develop a noise management plan, undertake sound propagation tests before the event, and sound level monitoring/management during the event.

Owner and Principal Consultant

Daniel Goodhand

Daniel has over 20 years’ experience as an acoustic consultant and has been elected to the governing body for the Institute of Acoustics (IoA).

Daniel is an experienced project manager and has been responsible for managing a wide range of projects, some requiring input from different disciplines. Daniel has provided evidence for planning appeals and has provided expert witness evidence for a public inquiry and other hearings.

Principal Consultant

Stephen Scott

Stephen has over 25 years’ experience as an acoustic consultant within the UK and international markets.

His experience spans a diverse range of disciplines of acoustic consultancy, from planning through to detailed mitigation design, with a specific focus on environmental acoustics. He has expert witness experience for public inquiries and in dispute resolution.

Senior Consultant

Karen Elsey

Karen has over 15 years experience as an acoustic consultant and has worked in the UK, Australia and Singapore.

She is an experienced site engineer and specialises in construction, environment and events.

She has worked on some of the largest rail infrastructure projects in the UK and also some of the most challenging music events which both require excellent interpersonal communication skills.
